Tramontane (Greek: τραμουντάνα, Italian: tramontana, Maltese: tramuntanaSpanish: tramontana) is a classical name for a northern wind.

According to French sources, the name was used in its present form at the end of the 13th century by Marco Polo, in 1298. It was borrowed from the Latin “transmontanus” and the Italian “tramontana”, meaning not just “across the mountains” but also “the North Star” (literally the star “above the mountains”), since the Alps marked the north for the Italic people.

In Greece, tramuntana (Greek: Τραμουντάνα) is used as a nautical term to define not only the northern wind, but also the northern direction and even the cardinal point of north on a compass.

tramontana‘s main color is the blue of the sea just like the sea-horizon view you can enjoy from its balconies.

In the bedroom the mattress, bed-mattress, pillows, bed linen and towels are all by COCO-MAT, a recognized leader for natural sleep products.

tramontana has two private balconies, one at the ground floor and one at the upper floor. They both enjoy unlimited sea view, overlooking  Ayios Yiannis, the quite beach right underneath.

At the upper floor there is a dining and sitting area and a fully-equipped kitchen with fridge, oven, Tassimo espresso machine and Corian® solid surfaces.
